Adidas, the German sports apparel company, has stated that it plans to sell off its remaining inventory of unsold Yeezy shoes and donate the earnings to charitable causes.
This decision follows the company's termination of its partnership with Kanye West in late 2022 after the rapper and fashion designer made a series of antisemitic comments. The Yeezy collaboration had been a major success for Adidas, contributing almost 10% of its annual revenue. To address the situation, Adidas considered various options such as rebranding or destroying the shoes but ultimately decided to sell them and donate the proceeds to organizations affected by West's actions. The exact percentage of sales going to charity has not been disclosed. Although Adidas has ended its partnership with Yeezy, it will continue to pay royalties to West for future sales. The move by Adidas reflects its commitment to social responsibility and recognition of the concerns raised by West's comments.
