The Directorate General of GST Intelligence sent tax notices to casino operator Delta Corp on Friday totaling Rs 16,822 crore. This request is for the time frame of July 2017 to March 2022.
According to a recently published regulatory filing, Delta Corp. has received one notice for Rs. 11,140 crore. Three of its companies, Casino Deltin Denzong, Highstreet Cruises, and Delta Pleasure Cruises, have received the other notice for Rs 5,682 crore.
According to Delta Corp, the GST notification is calculated using gross bet value rather than gross gaming value. It declared that it would seek legal action to contest this order.
The Directorate General of GST Intelligence, Hyderabad notified Delta Corp Ltd on Friday that it was required to pay an alleged tax liability of Rs 11,139 crore for the alleged underpayment of the Goods and Service Tax (GST) for the period between July 2017 and March 2022. A show-cause notice will be sent to the company if the amount is not paid.
Additionally, it has been noted that these tax demands represent an industry-wide phenomena rather than a problem restricted to one corporation.
