Hyundai Motors shines at IDEA 2023, secures six awards, including Gold for N Vision 74

Six outstanding awards, including the Gold Award, were given to Hyundai Motor Company today at the Industrial Design Society of America's (IDSA) International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2023.

In the Automotive and Transportation category, Hyundai Motor's N Vision 74 high-performance hydrogen hybrid "Rolling Lab" won the prestigious Gold Award. Additionally, it received recognition as a featured finalist for its all-electric IONIQ 6 car, flagship GRANDEUR vehicle, all-new KONA SUV, and two Plug and Drive (PnD) robotic mobility ideas.

The achievement of winning the IDEA Gold Award for N Vision 74, which also received the iF Design Award and Red Dot Award, marks a significant turning point.

Hyundai's Pony Coupe Concept, which made its debut at the Turin Motor Show in 1974, was celebrated when it was first unveiled in 2022 with the N Vision 74. The most recent appearance of N Vision 74 was at the prestigious Concorso d'Eleganza Villa D'Este classic and concept automobile exhibition, which took place in May at Lake Como, Italy. The corporation showcased its technological prowess, design creativity, and unwavering spirit of invention through this exhibition, tying its legacy to its audacious goal of driving enjoyment in a sustainable future.

“N Vision 74 is a tribute to our past efforts and a declaration of our future, carrying forward the bold spirit of the Pony Coupe Concept into a futuristic design that realizes the dream of our engineers to create Korea’s first sports car,” said SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design Center. “With N Vision 74, we are building on the heritage of Hyundai and strengthening the brand identity.”

Hyundai's IONIQ 6, GRANDEUR, and KONA production vehicles also received praise as featured finalists, enhancing the company's position for excellent product design.

IDEA is the top design accolade in North America and has been recognized as one of the top three design honors in the world since 1980 along with Germany's iF Design Award and Red Dot Award. Every year, IDEA's esteemed panel of judges assesses ideas from all around the world in several categories using criteria such as Design Innovation, Benefit to User, and Benefit to Society.
