As the festive season kicks off, car manufacturers in India are gearing up to launch several new models aimed at boosting their sales. Some of the most anticipated vehicles from top brands, such as the all-new Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai's electric Creta, and Maruti Suzuki’s first electric vehicle (EV), the eVX, are set to debut soon. Below is a list of the top five upcoming car launches expected in the Indian market in the coming months.
1. Maruti Suzuki eVX: Brand's First Electric Vehicle
Maruti Suzuki is preparing to unveil its first electric car, the eVX, in India by the end of 2024, with a market launch slated for early 2025. Built on a brand-new electric skateboard platform, the eVX has been spotted testing in a near-production state. The vehicle will measure 4.3 meters in length and have a wheelbase of 2700mm. It will be offered with two battery options: a 48 kWh pack with a claimed range of 400 kilometres and a larger 60 kWh pack delivering up to 550 kilometres on a single charge.
2. Hyundai Creta EV: The Brand’s First Mass-Market EV
Hyundai has been working on an electric version of its popular Creta SUV, which is expected to debut by the end of 2024, with a launch planned for early 2025. Based on the facelifted version of the conventional Creta, the EV variant will sport a 45 kWh battery paired with a 138 bhp motor, borrowed from Hyundai's Kona EV sold overseas. It will compete with vehicles like the Tata Curvv EV, Maruti Suzuki eVX, and MG Windsor once launched.
3. Skoda Kylaq: A New Contender in the Sub-Compact SUV Segment
Skoda Auto India is venturing into the sub-compact SUV market with the upcoming Kylaq. Scheduled for a November 6 launch, the Kylaq has already been revealed in its camouflaged form. Based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, it shares components with Skoda’s Kushaq. Powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine generating 114 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, it will offer both manual and automatic gearbox options. Upon release, it will rival popular sub-compact SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and Mahindra XUV300.
4. New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Modern Updates and Fresh Design
Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce the next generation of its Dzire compact sedan in November 2024. The latest images reveal a modern design, including the first-in-segment electric sunroof. Under the hood, the new Dzire will be powered by a 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine, with both manual and AMT gearbox options. The updated interior and exterior are expected to further solidify Dzire’s position in the Indian sedan market.
5. New-Gen Honda Amaze: A Revamped Compact Sedan
Honda Cars India will soon debut the third generation of the Amaze compact sedan, likely during the festive season. The new Amaze is expected to borrow elements from the Honda City and Elevate SUV, including updated underpinnings. The sedan will continue to use the 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine, producing 90 bhp and 110 Nm of torque, with manual and CVT transmission options. The redesigned interior and exterior will offer enhanced features and a more premium feel.
With these upcoming launches, car enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting lineup as automakers aim to capitalise on the festive demand surge.
