Switzerland has been determined to have the most expensive essential groceries in the world, costing an average of $52.95 for a basket of groceries. This is nearly 80% higher than the cost of groceries in the United States.
Similarly, Norway is the second most expensive country for groceries, making it difficult for people to afford basic items such as milk, pasta, and potatoes. The pandemic has put a spotlight on the cost of groceries, and it is generally more expensive to buy groceries in high-income countries like Switzerland, as opposed to low-income countries like Djibouti, which has some of the cheapest groceries in the world. Poland is also a relatively affordable country when it comes to vegan essentials.
