How does it feel to travel alone? A Solo Traveller's Experience

“Traveling alone will be the scariest, most liberating, life-changing experience of your life. Try it at least once!”

Solo Traveling is the dream of this generation. Hiking at your own pace, cliff jumping without feeling embarrassed, and managing your budget according to yourself. It is kind of liberating. Initially, I’ll be honest, it’s kind of lonely. But after a while, you will start liking your own company. Then whether it's nature, beachside, or urban area, you will see them from a deeper perspective. At first, going to Mahabaleshwar alone was a lame idea for me. I thought that I would rather watch Netflix at home.

But somehow, I ended up booking my tickets and hotel, and there I was, breathing the fresh air of a hill station. Here are 4 things that I felt during this trip:

Feeling Independent

Liberty is such a blessing! No one told me that I have to eat at this time and sleep now etc. Not only that, but it also builds confidence, making you realize that you can live by yourself and can be self-reliant. Want to go to the waterfalls and spend more time there? Sure. While solo trips, you are the star of your film.

Meeting new people

When you are alone, you tend to socialize with different people. This personalized connection will become a memory that you will cherish forever. I met a few people but meeting with the photographer was enlightening. On the mountains of Mahabaleshwar, I met a photographer and we exchanged our life stories. He told me about how is the local life there and about the different types of travelers he encountered. We laughed and ate strawberries.

Decision-making

Your mind will amaze you with how deep, little things affect your life. One starts questioning his life decisions and tries to figure out the solutions as there is no distraction.

Mental Peace

Living in the 21st Century, life is hectic. Everyone’s stressed either about family, finance, career, study, or love. We are just running after them to live luxuriously or at least better than our friends. Gotta be cool, right?  In this race, we forget that even we are humans and are burnt out. Hence, a break is essential. Self-love is important. This break will lead you to be more productive in the future. There will be you, just you, detached from the responsibilities and attached with self-love.

I suggest you all try to go on a solo adventure trip, clearing your mind and recharging yourself. Don't forget to know more about yourself on this long journey. Stay happy and travel more!
