Go Airlines India Ltd., a subsidiary of the Wadia group, has given its pilots a retention bonus of Rs. 100,000 per month and Rs. 50,000 for first officers. The extra compensation will start being paid on June 1. Additionally, workers who have left the airline but are prepared to revoke their resignations before June 15 will be eligible for the pay increase. The airline also announced that it will shortly reinstate a "longevity bonus" for long-tenured employees. According to statistics on AmbitionBox, the airline's pilots presently make an average of Rs 530,000 per month, which is lower than the Rs 750,000 at SpiceJet Ltd., which has recently hiked salaries twice.
Go Air, which changed its name to Go First two years ago, was given 30 days last week by aviation regulator DGCA to submit a revival plan that included information on its number of pilots. The airline wrote in an email to pilots, "If things shape up as per the present progress plan, it won't take long before we will be flying again, which will also enable us to be regular with salary payments." In fiscal 2024, IndiGo, the largest airline in India, wants to employ 5,000 people, while Air India Ltd. expects to hire more than 4,200 cabin personnel and 900 pilots this year. As the globe recovers from the epidemic, there is a global staffing deficit in the aviation industry.
