The advisory specifically targets security vulnerabilities found in Samsung devices operating on Android versions 11, 12, 13, and 14.
The security alert, released on December 13th, classifies the matter as high-risk, highlighting the immediate requirement for current Samsung users to expeditiously upgrade their phone's operating system or firmware.
What Exactly is at Risk?
According to CERT's vulnerability note, Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Samsung products that could allow remote attackers to access sensitive information, and execute arbitrary code on the targeted system
If these vulnerabilities are successfully exploited by an attacker, the consequences could be really serious. The official statement explains the possible outcomes, such as causing heap overflow and stack-based buffer overflow, getting hold of the device SIM PIN, broadcasting with higher privileges, reading AR Emoji's sandbox data, bypassing Knox Guard lock by changing system time, accessing any files, gaining access to sensitive information, running any code, and compromising the targeted system.
Significantly, Samsung Mobile Android versions 11, 12, 13, and 14 will be notably impacted by these vulnerabilities. The devices that are susceptible to these risks encompass the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy Z Fold5, and additional models.
