WhatsApp has recently introduced a new feature called 'Keep in Chat', which enables users to retain specific messages in a chat that is set to vanish after a certain period of time.This new feature is aimed at providing users with the ability to bookmark and save important messages they wish to retain even after the other messages disappear as per the set timer. In a blog post, Mark Zuckerberg announced the release of this much-awaited update, which would help users keep texts they need for later while still providing an extra layer of privacy.
Despite the addition of this new feature, WhatsApp has ensured that the disappearing message feature still holds its value. The 'Keep in Chat' feature comes with a unique 'Superpower to Sender,' meaning that it is the sender's choice to allow the receiver to save specific messages in the chat. WhatsApp believes that it is the sender's decision whether others in the chat can keep the message for later.In this feature, the sender will receive a notification when a recipient saves a message, and they will have the authority to overrule the decision. If the sender decides that the message cannot be preserved, then no one else will be able to keep it, and it will be removed once the timer runs out. Therefore, the sender has complete control over how their messages are safeguarded.
It is worth noting that saved messages on WhatsApp will be designated with a bookmark icon and can be easily accessed and organized by chat in the Kept Messages folder.
Furthermore, WhatsApp is also planning to add more settings to the disappearing messages section. According to Wabetainfo, the platform is set to add 15 new durations for the disappearing message option. Currently, users can only choose from three options: 24 hours, 7 days, and 90 days. In addition, WhatsApp is expanding the disappearing messages feature by adding 15 new time duration options under the "More options" menu.
The latest update from WhatsApp provides users with more options to keep their chats organized and free of unnecessary clutter. With the addition of 15 new time durations for disappearing messages, users can now select from a wider range of options, including durations of 1 year, 180 days, 60 days, 30 days, 21 days, 14 days, 6 days, 5 days, 4 days, 3 days, 2 days, 12 hours, 6 hours, 3 hours, and 1 hour. Messages that are saved using the new 'Keep in Chat' feature will be marked with a bookmark icon and can be easily accessed and organized by chat in the Kept Messages folder.
