Spotify testing to make in-app lyrics, available for premium users

Spotify, a leading music streaming platform, has a huge base of existing users, and a growing user base is said to be in the testing phase for making the in-app lyrics player a premium feature.

This might help Spotify get more users to upgrade to its premium services from a free plan. Spotify already has many offers of free premium subscriptions ranging from 1 to 3 months for those users who have never had a premium subscription, and it has a discounted price for students at the university. It also has various different plans, such as mini plans, individual plans, duo plans, and family plans.

However, this could lead to complaints from the community as it limits the free functions, and the ability to share one's favourite lyrics could no longer be possible as it will be restricted behind a pay-to-use feature. The ability to view the lyrics has been part of the free plan on Spotify since its release, and if this testing phase gets a confirmation, then free Spotify users will lose one of the most important features of the app while many other features remain free, such as listening to music or podcasts and creating playlists.
