Nokia is preparing to introduce a 4G network on the moon

Nokia is set to launch a 4G mobile network on the moon in late 2023 to improve lunar discoveries and provide communication relief for astronauts during missions. An antenna-equipped base station kept inside a Nova-C lunar lander will provide the power to the network, which will be launched via a SpaceX rocket. A solar-powered rover will also accompany it, and a Nokia executive has stated that the network will be used for vital command and control functions, remote control of lunar rovers, and real-time navigation and streaming of high-definition video. The launch of the 4G network is expected to make it easier for astronauts to communicate with colleagues and control the rover remotely while also enabling the discovery of ice on the moon, which can be used for drinking and powering rockets. Nokia aims to launch the network later this year if its launch partner does not experience any setbacks or delays.
