Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, announced that it will be adding invisible watermarking to its text-to-image generation product, Imagine, in the coming weeks. This move is aimed at enhancing transparency and preventing image manipulations like cropping and screenshots.

The company rolled out several AI-infused products in September, including bots that create photo-realistic images and smart glasses that answer questions.The success of Microsoft-backed OpenAI's chatbot, ChatGPT, has prompted companies like Meta to leverage large language models in creating AI-powered products. These products not only attract new investors but also drive innovation, retain existing customers, and engage new ones. Meta developed its own AI chatbot, Meta AI, using a custom model based on the Llama 2 large language model, which was made available for public commercial use in July.
