VA Shiva Ayyadurai, an Indian-American who was 14 when he "invented email," has expressed interest in becoming CEO of Twitter.

According to Ayyadurai, he developed an electronic messaging system as a teenager in 1978 that he called "EMAIL," and that this was the first email system. However, his claim has been disputed by many experts, who point out that the concept of electronic messaging predates Ayyadurai's work and that there were already several working email systems in use before he developed his system.

Ayyadurai, a vocal critic of the social media platform, announced his candidacy for the position on Twitter. Additionally, he has submitted a formal job application. Ayyadurai is an entrepreneur, scientist, and inventor. He has four MIT degrees, one of which is a doctorate in biological engineering.  Additionally, he is the CEO and founder of CytoSolve, a biotechnology company that makes use of AI to speed up the discovery of new drugs.

In his application, Ayyadurai has proposed another vision for the stage, pointed toward cultivating open exchange and reestablishing trust in the stage. Additionally, he has proposed a new governance system that will guarantee that all users, regardless of political leanings, will be treated equally.
