The Google Play Points program that was initially launched in the US in 2019, followed by 28 other countries, is now finally being launched in India. It is typically used for downloading various applications and services which are in premium mode. The program is fairly popular among Android users and was long awaited to be launched in India. According to this points system, users will earn points for purchases they make from the Play Store. The whole system works on the number of purchases you make and how often. The more you buy, your rewards will increase accordingly and so will your tier.
A primer on how it works:
You first begin at the Bronze level where you will be provided with 1 point, for every dollar spent.
After reaching 150 points, you will be promoted to the Silver tier which will help you earn 1.1 points per dollar spent.
Once you reach 600 points, you are at the Gold level and points will reach up to 1.2 points per dollar.
The last stage will be the Platinum stage, where you will be able to earn 1.4 points per dollar. The higher levels you reach, the more benefits and rewards.
But, Google still hasn't clarified how the point system would work in Indian rupees.
However, apps and services on the play store are typically a lot cheaper than when purchased in dollars, it is assumed that it will take less to earn points in India.
