Apple Vision Pro has officially hit the shelves in the United States, after Apple revealed 600 New apps and games for the Vision Pro headset, adding to the existing one million apps on the App Store.
Susan Prescott, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations, expressed enthusiasm about the Apple Vision Pro, stating, "It's unlocking the imaginations of our global developer community."
Prescott added that it has over 600 new spatial experiences in the App Store and 1 million compatible apps across iOS and iPadOS, anticipating that these apps will revolutionise how users engage with entertainment, music, games, learning, and productivity, showcasing the potential of spatial computing.
The Vision Pro offers users an immersive experience with a vast selection of more than 600 specially designed apps and games. Its ultra-high-resolution displays and three-dimensional interface redefine the way users engage with content, allowing interaction through eyes, hands, and voice on an infinite canvas.
Apple Arcade has more than 250 games, including popular titles like NBA 2K24 Arcade Edition, Sonic Dream Team, and TMNT Splintered Fate. The Vision Pro enhances the gaming experience, offering spatial games that can be played in augmented reality.
Streaming apps like Disney+ and Warner Bros. Discovery's Max leverages the Vision Pro's, providing users with a new dimension in watching movies and shows. Apple TV+ offers over 200 3D movies and Apple Immersive Videos, providing a heightened viewing experience with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos.
The Vision Pro offers unique experiences through apps like PGA TOUR Vision, NBA, MLB, and more. Real-time shot tracking, interactive 3D models of golf courses, and innovative ways to view basketball and baseball redefine how fans engage with their favourite sports.
The headset allows users to watch their favourite sports, TV shows, and movies on a virtual 100-foot screen, providing an unparalleled viewing experience.
Apple emphasises that the Vision Pro is not “Only Fun, No Work”. The 3D user interface goes beyond the traditional display limitations, allowing multitasking and collaboration that increases productivity. Microsoft’s 365 productivity apps, Webex, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and more are also integrated into the Vision Pro experience.
Moreover, Apple has also introduced apps like Hold the World, transporting users to the Natural History Museum with Sir David Attenborough, and Archive, offering spatial media from creators like Star Trek's Gene Roddenberry. Voyager by ForeFlight lets users explore 3D representations of air traffic, showcasing the limitless potential of augmented reality experiences.
The Apple Vision Pro is available at a starting price of $3,499 with 256GB of storage, additional options include 512GB and 1TB at $3,699 and $3,899, respectively. Extra accessories such as battery packs, light seals, and travel cases are also available at an additional cost.
