After refusing to take a selfie with some fans, cricketer Prithvi Shaw was attacked with a baseball bat. According to the police complaint, the verbal argument quickly turned into a physical fight and a car chase in Mumbai.
In the police report, eight people have been named for allegedly charging Shaw and his friend, breaking the windshield of their vehicle, and demanding Rs 50,000. Shobhit Thakur and Sana, or Sapna Gill, two of the individuals mentioned in the report, have been identified.
The complaint filed by Prithvi Shaw's friend claims that two fans approached the cricketer for selfies in the early hours of Wednesday morning at a luxury hotel in Mumbai's Oshiwara.
They didn't back down after a few pictures, so Shaw asked his friend and the hotel manager to get them out of the area. After being kicked out, some fans joined them as they waited outside for the cricketer with baseball bats. They surrounded Shaw and his friend as they left the hotel and then drove after them in their car.
According to Mr. Shaw's friend, they also demanded Rs. 50,000 and threatened to register a fake police case.
