The Hyderabad Street Circuit, India's first such circuit, will host the season opener of the 2022 Indian Racing League. The first Formula E race to ever take place in India is also scheduled to take place at the same venue. The Necklace road surrounding Hussain Sagar Lake is being readied for the races on the 10th and 11th of February.
Trial runs to test the track's race-readiness are being held today and tomorrow, November 19 and 20 and will again be held on December 10 and 11.
Regulations surrounding NTR Marg were declared by the Hyderabad Traffic Police, commencing on November 16 at 10 p.m. and lasting until November 20, 2022, at 10 p.m.
The year 2023 is looking to be fantastic for Indian fans of motorsports. Initially, MotoGP was going to visit India and the event would take place at Buddh International Circuit (BIC). Later on, it was confirmed that Hyderabad would appear on the Formula E schedule in 2023. The fact that both events will be held in India for the first time is encouraging for the country's future in motor racing.
A peek into the history - F1 races were conducted at BIC between 2011 to 2013, but since then the sport has not visited India because of tax-related conflicts.
A street circuit requires more concentration than a race track considering the unavailability of a run-off zone, shorter lanes, and more complex turns. It would be exciting to see how drivers respond to the new Hyderabad Street Circuit because street tracks all around the planet can penalize them for even the tiniest errors. The circuit is 2.37 kilometres long and has eight corners in all. Approximately 35000 enthusiasts will be watching the races live.
The first Formula E race to ever take place in India will now take place on February 11, 2023. On the same street layout before the main race, the Indian Racing League will hold its inaugural competition.
There are four races overall, with the first one taking place in Hyderabad. The Madras International Circuit and the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) are additional destinations on the schedule. The six metropolitan area Formula 3 teams Bangalore Speedsters, Chennai Turbo Rider, Goa Aces, Godspeed Kochi, Hyderabad Blackbirds, and Speed Demons Delhi will compete in the races.
