Another Bridge Collapse in Bihar: ‘5th in 9 days’, says Tejashwi Yadav

In Bihar, bridge collapses have become a usual sighting; on Friday, there was yet another reported bridge collapse in the Madhubani district, making it the fifth such incident in less than a week.

The 75 m long bridge over the Bhutahi River was reportedly under construction for two years.

The Bihar Rural Works Department constructed the ₹3 crore bridge across the Bhutahi River in 2021. The Rural Works Department attested to the fact that a few days ago, one of the pillars washed away.

It is situated in the Madhubani district's Bheja police station area, near the state's northernmost border with Nepal.

As the water levels increased, a 25-metre-long pillar crashed into the river. At the location, massive tarpaulin sheets and fallen pillars were also visible.
