What is the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign?

The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign of the Indian government will start today and run through the nation's 77th Independence Day on August 15. The Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is being commemorated with a campaign that is being organized by the Ministry of Culture in an effort to boost 'janbhagidari' and foster a greater sense of patriotism among the populace.

The government-sponsored initiative aims to encourage people to raise the national flag at their residences from August 13 to August 15.

Prime Minister Modi encouraged the nation's citizens to join the "Har Ghar Tiranga movement" in a post on X (previously Twitter).

He wrote, “The Tiranga symbolizes the spirit of freedom and national unity. Every Indian has an emotional connection with the Tricolour and it inspires us to work harder to further national progress. I urge you all to take part in the #HarGharTiranga movement between the 13th to 15th August. Upload your photos with the Tiranga here... https://harghartiranga.com"

What to do with the national flag after Independence Day | The News Minute

According to a government announcement cited by PTI, the Department of Posts has been assigned the responsibility of promoting and handing out high-quality national flags to the general public as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga project.

On Saturday, Union Culture Secretary Govind Mohan announced that as part of the "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign, the post offices have received over 2.5 crore flags. The top bureaucrat observed that there is currently a great deal of excitement in the nation and that, like last year, the occasion will be commemorated in states and Union Territories (UTs) in a "big way."

“We have ensured the supply of flags to all states and UTs. And this year, around 2.5 crore flags have been supplied to post offices, compared to last year when the figure was one crore" the Culture secretary informed PTI.

When discussing the hype surrounding the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative, Mohan said that huge excitement is being observed by the people.

For this campaign, there are a few guidelines to remember.

1. The saffron band should not be the bottom band of the flag, and the flag should never be flown upside down.

2. No ornaments, such as flowers, garlands, or symbols, should be hung from the flagpole or placed on it.

3. The National Flag is not supposed to linger on the ground, the water, or the floor.
