Pipeline damaged at Adai village, affected water supply for Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai Muncipal Corporation (NMMC) supplies water to commercial and residential connections through a 1,118.86 km pipeline. But the whole city is facing water supply problems due to the damage to this long pipeline that occurred on Saturday, 10th June. Litres of water went waste due to a pipeline broken near Mumbai Pune expressway at Adai village.

While explaining the reason behind this, the city engineer said, “Pipeline ruptured due to the sudden pressure from Bhokarpada filtration plant.” After that incident, water supply from the current main resource, Morbe dam, got shut down for repairing purposes. NMCC allotted this work to 70 workers as it was a really lengthy repairing process.  There they found a crack at the base of the pipeline, so it was necessary to change the entire segment of pipeline from the dam.

Due to the long operation of the pipeline, NMCC informed people about the inconvenience in water supply for the next two days. But before the pipeline was ruptured, people living in Navi Mumbai were facing water problems. Now due to this repair, the corporation will supply water with low pressure.  It’s really hectic for citizens and therefore many citizens have questioned corporation regarding the quality of pipelines.
