Amarpuri, also known as Jalebi Baba, was given a 14-year sentence by a fast-track court in Fatehabad, Haryana, for raping more than 100 women and filming the sex act.
The accused used drugs and raped the women who came to him for assistance. He used to record the act and then threatened to release the videos to get money from them. Additional District Judge Balwant Singh sentenced Amarpuri, 63, to 14 years in prison under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POSCO) Act for twice raping a minor, seven years in prison under Section 376-C of the Indian Penal Code for each of the two rape cases, and five years in prison under Section 67-A of the Information Technology Act.
In an Arms Act case, he was, nevertheless, acquitted. All sentences for the godman will be served simultaneously, totalling 14 years.
