A massive blast at a factory in Delhi's Bawana industrial area has resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to several others. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, and the injured have been admitted to the hospital, with two in critical condition. The Delhi fire department responded to the incident with six fire tenders and rescued over half a dozen injured individuals. Two of them were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. The factory owner, identified as Mukesh, is facing a case registered by the police, who are currently investigating the cause of the blast.
The blast took place at a factory located in O-Block, Sector 3 of the Bawana industrial area. The injured have been identified as Sanjeev, Sonu, Usha, and Bhanu. Bhanu sustained 60 percent burn injuries and is in critical condition. The deceased have been identified as Harveer and Ashok, both residents of Uttar Pradesh's Etah district.
The incident was reported to the Bawana police station at 4:43 p.m., and emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene. Fire tenders, ambulances, and police staff arrived to rescue those trapped in the factory. The injured were then transported to the hospital, where two of them were pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the factory is involved in grinding empty plastic cigarette lighters. The blast occurred while grinding these lighters, causing severe damage to the building's structure and injuring the workers. The factory employs six labourers.
A case has been registered against the factory owner, Mukesh, and the police have initiated a probe to determine the cause of the blast. The authorities are working to ascertain whether any negligence or safety violations contributed to the incident.
