International Yoga Day 2023: History and Importance of Yoga

International Yoga day is celebrated on 21st of June, every year all around the globe. The importance of this day commemorates the significance of yoga and various different asanas, which  will contribute in an essential manner  to our body and mind. This day was first observed in 2014, and initiated by the present Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. He presented this proposal, in order to emphasize the importance of keeping our mind and body in sync, where yoga plays a very crucial role. The proposal was officially disclosed in the UN General Assembly, from when the day is observed enthusiastically worldwide. 

Importance of Yoga:

Yoga tends to improve our mental health in several aspects, certain  kriya’s and asana’s are exclusively to widen our thought horizon, and to train our mind to attract positive thoughts. Yoga also aids in reducing heightened emotions such as anxiety, fear, hopelessness, stress etc.Stress has emerged as a widespread problem for many people in today's fast-paced environment. Yoga combines physical activity with breath awareness and meditation to provide powerful skills for stress management. Regular practice can reduce the body's levels of stress hormones and trigger a relaxation response, which results in a more tranquil frame of mind.

Yoga's thoughtful and contemplative components aid in improving focus and concentration. People may educate their thoughts to be present, enhance their mental clarity, and lengthen their attention span by engaging in yoga. This is advantageous in both daily life and academic or professional situations.
