TCS ends WFH, asks employees to follow dress code

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the renowned Indian IT powerhouse, has issued a spirited call to its employees, urging them to return to the office. The company's Chief Human Resources Officer, Milind Kakkad, sent out an email, emphasizing the significance of adhering to a proper dress code.

In the email, Kakkad underlined the importance of making a positive impression on global stakeholders through dressing appropriately. He stressed, "Our dress code policy provides clear guidance on the attire suitable for carrying out official duties and responsibilities."

Acknowledging that many employees had worked remotely for the past two years, Kakkad expressed the need to integrate them into the TCS culture. He stated, "A substantial number of associates have joined us in the last two years, primarily working virtually or in a hybrid mode. It is our responsibility to ensure their seamless integration, and working from the office is pivotal to internalizing TCS values and the TCS way."

The email also highlighted the company's dress code policy, which includes wearing business casuals like tucked-in full-sleeved shirts and trousers for men from Monday to Thursday, with business formals required for formal events and client visits. Fridays offer the flexibility of smart casuals, encompassing half-sleeved shirts, turtlenecks, khakis, chinos, and traditional Indian attire for women.

Last month, TCS made the decision to have certain teams return to the office in response to client demands. In a post-earnings interview with PTI, CHRO Milind Kakkad revealed that approximately 70 percent of the staff were already working from the office.

Kakkad emphasized the company's belief that having employees work from the office is crucial for integrating the new workforce into the TCS family and instilling them with the company's values. He stated, "We are encouraging everyone to return to the office on all working days. With a substantial wave of new hires and significant attrition, we see this as a necessary step for TCS at this time."
