RPG's Harsh Goenka rejects 70 hour work weeks, "Productivity more important"

Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy's perspective on working 70 hours a week has sparked a lively discussion on social media. While numerous individuals supported his viewpoint, it also triggered a wave of criticism from others. Recently, Harsh Goenka, RPG Enterprises Chairman, expressed his thoughts on employee working hours.

According to a tweet by Goenka, the traditional 5-day office week is a thing of the past. Almost 33% of office time is now spent working remotely, which has brought about a significant change. The flexibility that comes with remote work is as valuable to employees as an 8% salary increase. This is largely due to the fact that people can skip the daily commute and enjoy a greater sense of control over their work-life balance.

Mr. Goenka, when discussing productivity, highlighted that the conventional five-day workweek structure is no longer effective. Instead, he advocated for a hybrid work model, which he believes is the way forward in both the present and the future.

This post was shared on October 30th and has since received an impressive number of views, surpassing one lakh. Additionally, it has garnered over 1,000 likes and has sparked numerous comments. Many netizens took to the comments section to express their agreement with Goenka's post.

One person mentioned, "Having flexibility is incredibly important for staying motivated, being creative, and finding a good work-life balance. Companies that stick to old-fashioned rules about being physically present run the risk of losing their best employees and hindering innovation. Saving time on commuting is a win-win for both employees and the organization."

Another person agreed, saying, "Definitely! Having the right mindset and skills can make a huge impact. Being efficient and effective can enable certain individuals to accomplish in just 7 hours what might take others 70 hours."
