Individuals with the appropriate ability & skill set can participate in any of the three specialized norms. The ranks of professionals can differ depending on the company & type of ship. However, the fundamental structure remains the same. In the Indian navy, however, sea jobs begin at the lieutenant level, which is the lowest rung in terms of ranking. Navy servicemen are assigned different ranks in every country, making the distinction in their rights and duties. Every rank in both the Navies carries great responsibilities as well as honour.

Pay scale:

The pay scale in the Merchant Navy depends on the job post. The merchant Navy is known for its luxurious life of ships and high pay packages. On the other hand, the pay scale of the Indian Navy is determined by the positions of an individual and also the experience the person has. Most people chose it as a career for the level of patriotism, respect and pride it comes with.

As you can see, the Merchant Navy deals with commercial projects and works with the public as well as private companies.
