Indian employees feel they are all underpaid

A large percentage of employees in India believe that they are not adequately compensated for their work, and if you share this sentiment, you are not alone. Specifically, 69% of Indian workers report feeling underpaid at times, frequently, or consistently, which is higher than the global average of 43%. In contrast, the percentage of employees who feel underpaid in China is only 27%, while in Singapore, it is 46%.

The ADP Research Institute, a company that provides workforce management solutions, conducted a survey of 32,612 employees from 17 different countries worldwide. This survey was conducted between October 28th and November 18th, 2022, and included more than 8,613 individuals who work exclusively in the gig economy. These findings have been reported.

Indian workers, despite feeling that their compensation is inadequate, demonstrate a strong commitment to their work. Specifically, they are contributing 10 hours and 39 minutes of unpaid work each week, which is the highest among the countries surveyed. Singaporeans followed with eight hours and 11 minutes, while Chinese and Australians are providing seven and a half hours and seven hours and 10 minutes, respectively.
