The cybercrime police detained the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a real estate company after he allegedly threatened to expose corporate data over unpaid compensation. The East CEN police station has received a FIR.According to a complaint, the accused worked for the organisation for around six months before leaving abruptly in October 2022 as Regional CEO of the Mumbai division.
The general manager of the company submitted the complaint; however, it was not clear what transpired between the accused and the business prior to his departure. The business has locations in Goa, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and other cities.
Later allegations in the lawsuit stated that in January 2023, the accused allegedly sent the business an email demanding payment of his outstanding salary and threatening to release the information if he was not paid. The company only filed the complaint in August, though. The complainant did not provide a justification for the delay in reporting the alleged incident.
The former CEO had broken a non-disclosure agreement and was mailing information about the company to other people, the general manager of the company claimed in a statement to a news agency. She claimed that the complaint had been made because it was against the terms of the agreement, but she would not provide any other information. The FIR makes no indication of the alleged sender or the number of recipients.
One of the senior officials who was aware of the situation speculated that the corporation may not have paid the employee's wage, for which he is claimed to have threatened to leak the information.
According to the authorities, a search for the accused is ongoing. According to the authorities, the corporation should have contacted them right away after receiving the mail, which would have made it simpler to solve the case.
