Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, is facing criticism after the company reduced its parental leave policy from 20 weeks to just 14 days. The New York Times obtained internal documents outlining the change, which is expected to have a significant impact on Twitter employees in parts of the United States without paid leave policies. Currently, only 12 states in the US provide paid family and medical leave.
Many people on social media expressed their frustration with the decision, highlighting that it could worsen the gender pay gap by forcing women to choose between returning to work just two weeks after giving birth or taking an extended, unpaid leave. Additionally, one user raised concerns about a potential breach of the acquisition deal that included protecting benefits for a year after the acquisition.
