A tech company has received swift criticism for publishing a job posting with a warning not to publish information about only white candidates.
A business analyst position was advertised on Indeed by Arthur Grand Technologies, an IT services company based in Ashburn, Virginia, which was established in 2012. The post, notwithstanding, likewise incorporated a note: " Only White born US citizens who live within 60 miles of Dallas, Texas. [Don't reveal it to candidates.]
An ex-employee, according to the company's apology, added discriminatory language to a job listing and published it without permission.
Berkshire Hathaway and IT company HTC Global were listed as clients for the business analyst position, which would include Salesforce implementation. Berkshire Hathaway, HTC Global, and Arthur Grand Technologies did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Salesforce declined to remark.
Arthur Grand addressed the controversy on its LinkedIn page after removing the job posting.
The initial statement that the company published on LinkedIn read, "At Arthur Grand, we do not condone or engage in any type of discrimination based on race, color, or religion." After conducting an investigation, we discovered that the responsible work posting was committed by a different lower-level spotter at our company. We fired them immediately because they violated our policy.
The organization, which gives various innovation and counseling administrations, later eliminated its proclamation from its LinkedIn page and offered an alternate clarification, saying the work post was "neither approved nor posted by Arthur Fantastic or its representatives."
"A former employee, after altering a post with discriminatory language and reposting it through his own account. As soon as we learned of the offensive job posting, we worked together with the job portal to remove it. In its most recent LinkedIn statement, the company stated that it is a "minority-owned company." The job advertisement has been the target of necessary legal action."
According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, employers are prohibited from publishing a job posting that, among other things, "shows a preference for or discourages someone from applying for a job because of his or her race."
