WC loss burns Paris

Following a 3-3 draw after extra time, Argentina overcame France 4-2 on penalties in what is being described as one of the most exciting cup finals ever. Riots broke out in major French towns including Paris, Lyon, Nice, Bordeaux, and Grenoble as a result of France's failure in the championship game. On Sunday in Paris, many protesters were imprisoned for rioting and struggling with the police.

According to a story in The Sun, after the tense game, flares were fired up and pyrotechnics shot into the sky as riot police and fans wrestled on Paris' renowned Champs-Elysees. Thus, according to accounts from the area, enthusiasts flocked to restaurants and eateries to watch the game as hundreds of automobiles drove by, honking their horns and displaying flags from the windows.

Videos from France show protesters attacking the police and putting barricades on fire. As crowds continued to throw firecrackers at police forces on the Champs-Elysees in Paris, cops reportedly deployed tear gas to disperse them. After the police began holding bellicose opponents, some of them even engaged in violent confrontations with them.

According to the clip, scenes of mayhem were seen in the streets as French flag-waving fans threw rocks, bottles, and fireworks at the police before they responded by using tear gas. The groups implicated in the street rioting were also split using water cannons. The rioters struck cars with rocks while police tried to apprehend them with sticks. According to accounts, a number of persons were detained. As skirmishes broke out in Nice, it was seen that emergency cars were racing through the streets while crushing the burning trash that was scattered all about. Importantly, riots have recently broken out at FIFA world cup games around Europe.

Earlier, when France's football team lost the tense FIFA World Cup final, French President Emmanuel Macron consoled the squad, who were clearly extremely upset. After the humiliating loss in a nail-biting penalty shootout, Macron was seen calming all the players. The final score was 4-2.
