Wagner Chief Progozhin declares war on Putin, starts mutiny in Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed citizens today about the armed mutiny by the Wagner Group. He said, “It’s a betrayal and anyone who joins the armed forces against the Russian Military will face the consequences.” Putin has sent strict orders to armed forces and government agencies to take appropriate actions against all those who will be part of the rebellion.

The Wagner Group, which is a private military company and mercenary group in Russia, called out an armed rebellion against the government. This January, Prigozhin, head of the Wagner group, led the team and captured the Donetsk region salt-mining town in Soledar, Ukraine. But the Russian Defense Ministry took all the credit for Wagner’s efforts. The Russian Ministry also failed to provide the necessary ammunition to Prigozhin at the time of capturing Bakhmut. Prigozhin accused the Russian Military of their inability. This is said to be the main reason behind the ongoing armed battle in Russia.

Putin referred to Yevgeny Prigozhin as a betrayal and treason for his actions against the government. The president addressed people saying, this is high time when the faith of Russian citizens is being tested. We all need to be unified and responsible enough because this armed rebellion at such times may damage the image of Russia.

On the other hand, Yevgeny Prigozhin said, “we will destroy anyone who will stand in our way.”

The whole world is criticizing the Russia-Ukraine war. And now within Russia, only people are going against the Ukraine invasion by Russia. This is marked as the biggest domestic crisis in Russia against the Putin government.
