US Court's Ruling On H-1B Visa To Benefit Thousands Of Indian Techies

The spouses of H-1B visa holders are permitted to work in the US, according to a US district judge. The court rejected a claim made by Save Jobs USA, a group of IT workers, that they were forced out of their positions by H-1B workers.

The H1B visa program was created to make it possible for talented foreign workers to go to the US and work for US businesses. Yet, spouses of H-1B visa holders were prohibited from working until recently.

The decision will help thousands of foreign workers in the US tech industry, the majority of whom are Indians. According to a PTI report, tech giants including Amazon, Apple, Google, and Microsoft had opposed Save Jobs USA's case.

According to Judge Tanya Chutkan, Save Jobs USA's main argument is that Congress has never given the Department of Homeland Security the authority to permit foreign people, such as those with H-4 visas, to work while they are in the country.

H-1B employees have praised the decision, saying it will relieve thousands of families across the nation of their financial burdens. Ajay Bhutoria, a prominent community leader and advocate for immigrant rights, said in a statement, "This decision will provide much-needed relief to families who have been struggling to make ends meet and it will help to ensure that these families can stay together and thrive," said.

He told PTI that allowing H-1B spouses to work is "not just a matter of economic fairness, but also a matter of family unity and stability".
