UK Firm threatens to file a Lawsuit against Netflix’s newly launched Squid Game Sequel!

The Popular Korean Show ‘Squid Games’ is back with its sequel titled 'Squid Game: The Challenge'. Netflix recently dropped its first Five episodes on November 22, leaving Fans excited and amazed as the show unveils intricately recreated sets of the Original to appeal to both new and dedicated fans. The subsequent three episodes are set to release on November 29, with the final two scheduled for December 6, 2023.

However after its successful premier, there has been Massive Criticism of the reality competition. The sequel, aimed at a less violent adaptation, however ‘The Contestants’ that participates in the competition are considering legal action against the streaming giant.

A legal firm based in the UK, Express Solicitors has threatened to file a lawsuit concerning injuries sustained by contestants and negligence of medical issues during the filming of 'Squid Game: The Challenge.'

The reality show, inspired by the 2021 hit 'Squid Game,' initially intended to omit violent and dangerous elements after the original series faced criticism for alleged medical problems during filming. 

During the initial game, "Red Light, Green Light," the participants, whose identities remain undisclosed, allegedly experienced hypothermia and nerve issues due to inadequate health and safety standards during January filming. These contestants claim that they were uninformed about the health risks associated with prolonged periods spent in cold, crouched positions with no movement.

The Contestants reportedly are been represented by Express Solicitors, that UK personal injury firm, seeking compensation for their experiences in the reality show from the production company, Studio Lambert, stressing on collecting evidence for potential lawsuits.

Express Solicitors' CEO, Daniel Slade, expressed concern for the unexpected suffering of contestants in a statement cited by the Hollywood outlet: “We have sent letters of claim on behalf of contestants injured in this show. From what we’ve been told, they pushed the boundaries of safety in the name of entertainment. Production companies need to ensure that health and safety standards on their shows don’t leave people at risk of harm."

“Contestants thought they were taking part in something fun, and those injured did not expect to suffer as they did”, He added.

Describing injuries during the show, Slade mentioned instances of fainting, calls for medics, hypothermia, and hands turning purple from the cold. The lawyers emphasized the serious, long-term health implications of such injuries, including complaints about ill-fitting clothing provided in cold conditions.

Netflix acknowledged that during filming at Cardington Studios in Bedfordshire, three participants sought medical assistance amid a British cold snap. However, the streaming service rejected claims of serious injuries, labeling them as untrue.
