According to local media reports citing the police, two individuals were shot at a Gurudwara in California on Sunday. The victims are said to be in critical condition, but the incident was not deemed to be a hate crime, as per the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office. Rather, it was a shootout between two men who were known to each other, following a fistfight involving three people that escalated into violence. One suspect, an Indian male, is still at large, while the other is hospitalized. The incident is just one of many gun-related incidents in the US, with an estimated 44,000 gun-related deaths in the country last year. In response to the increase in gun violence, President Joe Biden signed an executive order aimed at increasing the number of background checks conducted during gun sales. Search operations to find the shooters are underway.
