Two Indian-Americans appointed by Biden to the 'Advisory Committee for Trade Policy And Negotiations'

Revathi Advaithi, CEO of Flex, and Manish Bapna, CEO of the Natural Resources Defence Council, are the two Indian-Americans appointed by Joe Biden to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations. He announced it on 10th March.

The Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations (ACTPN) is a committee established by the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to provide advice and counsel on trade policy matters. The committee is made up of representatives from various sectors of the economy, including agriculture, labor, the environment, and intellectual property. The role of the ACTPN is to provide recommendations to the USTR on trade policy issues, including negotiating objectives, negotiating strategies, and the implementation of trade agreements. The ACTPN meets several times a year to discuss trade policy issues. The committee's meetings are open to the public. The ACTPN plays an important role in shaping the U.S. trade policy by providing input and advice from a diverse range of stakeholders.

Revathi Advaithi is a business executive who currently serves as the CEO of Flex Ltd. She assumed the role of CEO in February 2019, becoming the first woman CEO of the company. Advaithi is recognized as a transformational leader with extensive experience in the industrial and technology sectors.

Manish Bapna joined the Natural Resources Defence Council, as president and chief executive officer, in August 2021. It is an environmental organization with more than 700 attorneys, scientists, advocates, and policy experts.  He has extensive experience in environmental policy, sustainable development, and international relations.
