Tragic: A couple, 2 kids & 3 dogs shot dead in suburban Chicago home

In a heart-wrenching turn of events in Illinois, a suburban Chicago family, along with their beloved pets, was discovered fatally shot in their home, sending shockwaves through the community. Authorities are on the hunt for the perpetrator, as they rule out the possibility of a murder-suicide.

The Disturbing Details

Late in the evening on September 18, officers responding to concerned relatives' requests for a well-being check stumbled upon a gruesome scene in a suburban Chicago residence. The bodies of the couple, their two children, and three dogs were found lifeless. Deputy Chief Chris Burne of the Romeoville Police Department disclosed that the victims had likely met their tragic fate sometime between Saturday night and early Sunday. While the investigation is underway, officials believe that the incident poses no immediate threat to the community.

Relatives had alerted the police when one family member failed to show up for work on Sunday morning and remained unresponsive to calls throughout the day. Burne clarified, "A member of the family did not show up for work at 6 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, September 17, and did not respond to phone calls throughout the day, resulting in family members becoming concerned."

A Glimpse into the Victims' Lives

The victims have been identified as Alberto Rolon and Zoraida Bartolomei, while the names and ages of their children have yet to be disclosed. Authorities have ruled out the possibility of the offender being among the victims, dispelling the notion of a murder-suicide. In a statement, Rachel Kinder, Superintendent of the Valley View School District (VVSD), revealed that two of the deceased children attended Robert C. Hill Elementary School.

Neighbours in the quiet community shared that the family had moved in just a few months prior but kept mostly to themselves, rarely seen outside. This tragic incident has shaken the peaceful town of Romeoville, located approximately 48 kilometres southwest of Chicago, leaving authorities and residents alike searching for answers and justice.
