According to Al Jazeera, there has been a tragic incident in the northwestern Brazilian state of Acre. The Acre state government has confirmed that a small plane, specifically a single-engine Cessna Caravan, crashed near the Rio Branco airport. Sadly, all ten passengers, including nine adults and an infant, as well as the pilot and co-pilot, lost their lives in the crash. The authorities are now launching an investigation into this devastating incident.
The passengers' nationalities are still not known, as per Al Jazeera. The aircraft, operated by a local company called ART Taxi Aereo, was flying to the town of Envira in the neighbouring Amazonas state.
The plane caught fire upon impact and triggered a forest fire in a remote region near the Brazil-Peru and Brazil-Bolivia borders.
This is reportedly the second incident of this nature in less than two months, with a previous crash in Amazonas state in September claiming the lives of 14 people on board a small jet.
