Israel has launched air strikes on multiple military sites in Iran, escalating what is already a tense Middle Eastern landscape in the early hours of Saturday. According to Israeli military sources, the strikes came in response to a recent ballistic missile attack on October 1. Following the attack, Iraq and Iran will temporarily suspend all flights suspension on Saturday morning. Iran witnessed Explosions in Tehran. Israel's action has therefore greatly heightened fears of further escalation.
International Reaction
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on Iran to hold off from military action, he said "I am clear that Israel has the right to defend itself against Iranian aggression. I'm equally clear that we need to avoid further regional escalation and urge all sides to show restraint. Iran should not respond," he added.
Israel launches airstrikes against Syria and Lebanon
Israel's airstrikes was not limited to Iran as the country conducted air strikes in the Syrian capital, Damascus. Israeli attacks targeted military sites in Syria today early morning. The Israeli military said these actions form part of efforts to disarm Hezbollah and other militant groups in the region. The airstrikes have been widely condemned abroad, especially the airstrike in Lebanon that killed three journalists in southeastern Lebanon on Friday. Israel shot down a drone launched from Lebanon into Israeli airspace hours after air strikes in Iran. The IAF took action following sirens that sounded in Israel's Upper Galilee region.
Israeli Forces Detain Male Medical Staff at Kamal Adwan Hospital
The situation in northern Gaza remains dire as the Israeli siege enters its 22nd day. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Israeli forces have detained all male medical personnel at the Kamal Adwan hospital, along with several wounded and sick individuals currently receiving care there. Reports indicate that women have been confined to one of the hospital's rooms and have left without access to food or water. Health Ministry has urgently called on international institutions and relevant authorities to intervene and ensure their protection.
