Russian Plane Door Opens Mid-Air

According to a shocking new video, passengers on a Russian charter plane feared for their lives when the cabin depressurized and a rear door opened in the middle of the flight, sucking out their hats and luggage.

According to East2West News, 33-year-old Sergei Lidrik captured the dramatic footage of himself and his fellow passengers battling the howling wind inside the vintage An-26 twin-prop plane owned by IrAero.

According to the report, the plane had taken off from the remote Siberian city of Magan at minus 41 degrees Celsius on its way to Magadan on Russia's Pacific coast.

Aeroplane doors are sealed with multiple layers of heavy duty latches and pressure seals that are designed to withstand the extreme conditions of flight, including changes in cabin pressure. Additionally, the door opening mechanisms are controlled by the flight crew and can only be opened during specific times, such as during boarding or exiting the plane, when the plane is on the ground.

Lidrik stated,“The flight ended quicker than expected — with the wrong result.” “People were shocked at first. … People had their hats blown off.” He said people sitting in the rear of the cabin, where the door blew off, were “freezing cold.”

Additionally, some baggage was sucked out of the aircraft. The pilot circled back to Magan and made an emergency landing, saving the lives of all 25 passengers.
