Rare LGBTQ win in Spain - Transgender people over 16 can now change gender in ID

The LGBTIQ+ community has just received a victory in Spain. Following a ruling by the Spanish Constitutional Court, transgender people over the age of 16 will now be allowed to change their gender on official documents, such as ID and passports. This is an incredibly important move towards protecting and recognizing the rights of transgender people in Spain and beyond.

In a move that is being celebrated by LGBTQ rights activists, Spain has passed a new law that makes it easier for transgender people to change their gender on official documents.

Under the old law, transgender people had to go through a lengthy and intrusive process in order to have their gender changed on ID documents. The new law streamlines this process, making it much simpler and less invasive.

This is a significant win for transgender rights in Spain, and will hopefully lead to more countries following suit in making it easier for transgender people to change their legal gender.

The new law, which was approved by a vote of 187 to 147, will allow transgender people to change their gender on their ID without undergoing surgery or any other medical treatment. All they will need is a written statement from a doctor confirming their gender identity.

This is a major step forward for transgender rights in Spain, and comes after years of campaigning by LGBTQ activists. It is also one of the most progressive transgender laws in Europe, and is likely to set a precedent for other countries to follow suit.

The bill, which was approved by the Spanish parliament on Wednesday, will also allow trans people to legally change their name and gender without having to go through a medical or psychological evaluation.

Currently, transgender people in Spain have to go through a lengthy and expensive process in order to change their legal gender. This includes undergoing hormone therapy, sex reassignment surgery, and getting a diagnosis of “gender identity disorder” from a psychiatrist.

The new bill will simplify this process and make it more accessible for trans people in Spain. It is a major win for the LGBTQ community in Spain, and will hopefully pave the way for further progress on transgender rights in the country.
