Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, is held from attending the BRICS Conference, which will be held in South Africa in August 2023. According to a report by Reuters, Putin will be attending the conference via a video call and confirmed that he will not be present in South Africa.
This is on the course of the attest warrant, that has been filed against Putin, by the International Criminal Court, earlier this year. He was alleged for the abduction of children from Ukraine and his actions intending to start a war again Ukraine.
While this arrest warrant is active in South Africa, the same doesn't apply to Russia, as it is not one of the member countries of the ICC.
