North Korea Launches ICBMs, US and South Korea fly F-35 Stealth fighters in response

The supreme leader of North Korea, Kim Jung Un supervised the launch of a new Inter Continental Ballistic Missile system (ICBM) on Friday, along with his daughter Kim Chu-Ae. According to state media reports, his wife and daughter were present at the test site, alongside the leader.

According to experts, it is extremely rare for state media to mention Kim’s children, and this is the first official confirmation that Kim Jung Un’s regime has indeed a fourth generation. State media reported that the presence of the nation’s first family during the test has provided greater resolve and courage in the dynamic advance for bolstering the state's nuclear capabilities.

The girl believed to be named Kim Chu-ae, was seen holding hands with Kim Jung Un, as they went about strolling and talking throughout the test.

The missile named “Hwasong 17” reached a maximum altitude of 6,040.9 kilometres (3,750 miles) and reached a maximum distance of 999.2 kilometres. Thereby proving its strategic capability to strike the USA if the need arises.

State media reported that the success of the new ICBM launch was a show of strength as well as a warning against America. Since Kim’s declaration of North Korea as an “irreversible” nuclear state in September, America has stepped up the regional security of the area by conducting the largest-ever joint air exercises with South Korea as well as naval maritime exercises with Japan.

Kim Jong Un has however countered, saying that If America crosses the threshold, then they will be met with a nuclear response. According to analysts, the new “monster” missile may be one of the most powerful weapons to have been ever created by NK, but its sheer size presents a lot of problems which will be particularly hard to overcome for Pyongyang.

Many experts speculated that the large size of the missile rules out the possibility of being used as a road-mobile system, and production would most likely be a significantly greater strain on the limited resources of the nation.

Regardless of the future, NK has conducted a record number of missile launches this year, in comparison to previous years. Kim Jung Un’s regular provocative actions trigger fear in the neighbouring nations of South Korea and Japan frequently.

And the neighbouring nations look up to America for providing them with much-needed military and diplomatic support in the face of Pyongyang’s aggression. UN’s security council has called for a meeting on Monday to discuss the nuclear-armed nation.

The emergence of Kim’s children out of the shadows and into the spotlight raises many disturbing questions about the future of the nation and its nuclear weapons program. As NK has remained a dynasty-run dictatorship, it may be possible that Kim Jong Un may want his children to take up his place, in the coming years.

Unveiling his daughter in such a significant launch is also a key indicator that Kim may want his daughter to take charge of the nation’s nuclear programs in the coming years.
