Nijjar murder suspects to be arrested soon: Report

Amid the dispute between India and Canada over the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Canadian authorities have stated that they are close to the arrest of two individuals suspected of carrying out the deadly shooting of a Sikh separatist in the province of British Columbia in June.

Three unnamed sources cited by The Globe and Mail have revealed that the two alleged murderers did not depart from Canada after Nijjar's murder and have been monitored by the police for several months.

According to sources mentioned in a Canadian newspaper published in five cities across western and central Canada, the authorities anticipate apprehending these suspects in the upcoming weeks. The newspaper report stated that the police would disclose information about the alleged participation of the assassins and their ties to the Indian government once formal charges were filed.

The bilateral relationship between India and Canada suffered greatly after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed in the House of Commons on September 18 that there were credible allegations of a connection between Indian agents and the murder. This led to a significant deterioration in their relationship.

In September of this year, Trudeau accused the Indian government of being involved in the assassination of the Khalistani terrorist. Nevertheless, India dismissed the allegations as "ridiculous and biased" and retaliated by expelling a Canadian diplomat in response to Ottawa's demand for a high-ranking Indian diplomat to depart.
