Sam Cox, who also goes by the artist name Mr Doodle, has gained attention in the art world for his graphic doodle artwork that is reminiscent of Keith Haring's work from the graffiti-influenced 1980s. Cox has spent the last two years doodling all over the surface of his purportedly $1.5 million Kent home. Everything in the room is decorated in his distinctive monochromatic, hand-drawn, cartoonish manner, from the ceilings and walls to the toaster.
He broke his auction record in 2020 when he fetched about $1 million for a sizable drawing titled Spring at Tokyo Chuo Auction. Cox was able to purchase his Kent mansion for roughly $1.5 million a few years ago using the proceeds from his art. It was the first step in realizing a teen's dream of living in a home that was fully covered in drawings. Cox tells the Sunday Times, "I've wanted to do this since I was 18 years old."
This endeavour is, in Mr Doodle's opinion, his "best piece of work." The artist said in the caption of an Instagram photo that the project used 2,296 pen nibs, 900 litres of white paint, 401 cans of black spray paint for the outside, and 286 bottles of black sketching paint for the interior.

He told the Sunday Times that the corridor reminds him of Noah's Ark, while the staircases stand in for paradise and hell. Different rooms and portions of the house were influenced by these vague concepts. Beyond that, however, the doodles are improvised, and errors are not corrected. Cox calls doodling an "out-of-body" experience while speaking with Tim Muffett of BBC Breakfast.
It's not easy to devote your entire life to doodling, though. According to Cox, who claims to have had the flu in February 2020 and started experiencing hallucinations involving doodles, he spent six weeks in a psychiatric institution, he told the Sunday Times. The popularity of Mr Doodle's work in recent years suggests that the value of his Kent estate has increased significantly after it was covered with drawings. However, according to the Sunday Times, Cox is not interested in selling the house, which he chose in part because it is located just five minutes from his parent's house.
