Middle-East War Updates: US Sends Missile Defense System to Israel

The United States has decided to send one of its most modern anti-missile systems to Israel as tensions flare across the Middle East in a move to bolster Israel's air defense. The Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin approved deploying a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD missile, battery with associated U.S. military personnel to Israel.

Iran Warns of Risk to US Troops

Although the deployment of the thaad missile system to Israel, has attracted warning from Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi cautioned that the US was "putting the lives of its troops at risk" by deploying them to Israel. He also added that Iran would not hesitate to defend its people and interests. The date on which the THAAD system is to arrive in Israel is not known. It has been reported that nearly 100 U.S. troops are to be sent there to operate the system.

Israeli Hospital Attack: Four Dead, Dozens Injured

With the growing tensions, Israeli military offensive operations against Gaza have resulted in many deaths. An airstrike on of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city of Deir el-Balah central Gaza targeted an area containing tents which happen to act as a residence to some of the displaced Palestinians. According to the reports at least four have been confirmed dead, and 70 injured due to a raging fire that has swept across the tented camp.

In a separate incident, Hezbollah claimed it struck with a drone an Israeli military base in central Israel and killed many Israeli soldiers. The attack took place near Binyamina. Hezbollah described the strike as retaliation for strikes by Israel in recent days on Beirut, which killed 22. International leaders call for diplomacy and de-escalation, but conditions remain volatile with military action taking place on multiple fronts. And US continues affirming its unwavering support for Israel.
