Massive Fire Engulfs Cambodia Hotel-Casino: 700 People Rescued, Multiple Dead

Police said on Thursday that at least nineteen people were killed in a fire at a Cambodian hotel and casino near the Thai-Cambodia border.

According to police, the fire started at 11:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday at the Grand Diamond City hotel and casino in Poipet.

The Grand Diamond City is a casino among the many casinos clustered along the Thai-Cambodian border. 

The casinos on the Thai-Cambodian border are popular with both tourists and locals, and they offer a variety of games such as slot machines, table games, and electronic gaming machines.

Officials have said that abo0ut 700 people were rescued from the fire. 19 people have been found dead at TheGrand Diamond City, and about dozens are sti9ll missing as a result of the fire. The death troll may even go up as many bodies are still being found trapped under the building remains. 

Rescuers reported that people tried to escape the fire and jump out the windows to safety, but many that jumped were either pronounced dead or are being treated right now. 

The cause of the fire has not been declared yet.

Pictures released on wednesday show the burnt remains of the once grand casino. Rescue operations are still underway and many people have been flooding the hospitals in search of their loved ones.
