France has become a key partner in India's Make in India campaign, committing to helping India with manufacturing much needed aircraft engines and long range submarines. French Defence Minister Florence Parly recently shared how 'Make in India' plays a key role in the French Defence system.
France has called India a "bright spot" in the global economy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has used his 'Make in India' initiative to attract French companies to invest in India. French company Dassault Aviation is providing 36 Rafale fighter jets, DCNS is making six submarines and is in the race to make six more. France is also in the process of making missiles and is committed to India's Atma Nirbhar policy.
"Make in India" is a campaign launched by the Government of India in 2014 to encourage companies to manufacture their products in India. The campaign aims to increase the manufacturing sector's share of India's GDP from 16% to 25% and create 100 million new jobs by 2022.
The government has also introduced several initiatives and reforms to make it easier for companies to do business in India, including simplifying regulations, improving infrastructure, and providing tax incentives. The campaign focuses on 25 sectors, including automobiles, aviation, biotechnology, chemicals, construction, defense, and pharmaceuticals.
