Israel Wipes Out Main Hezbollah Drone Commander in Beirut Raid
In a highly coordinated operation, the Israeli military said Thursday that it had carried out a major bombing raid that killed Hezbollah's drone chief, Mohammed Srur, also known as Abu Saleh. The military released a video of the operation, which was carried out by the Israeli Air Force and the Intelligence Division, targeting the UAV Project of Hezbollah in Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah-controlled district of Beirut.
It was in one such operation that the IDF said that Srur, who had taken great interest in the production of drones from Lebanon, coordinated projects dealing with UAVs and explosives. Many operations were deemed to be conducted from civilian areas; which might have added to the complications in the region.

Beirut attack near previous attacks on the city
The attack occurred near the location where Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force commander Ibrahim Aqil and other commanders were said to have been killed. The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that two people were killed in Thursday's attack. Meanwhile, a Lebanese official confirmed that "three missiles" hit an apartment inside a 10-storey building. Hezbollah later identified that their drone commander, Mohammed Srur, was the target of the attack.

Who Was Mohammed Srur?
Mohammed Srur was born in Jenin-a northern city. He had ties with Hezbollah since the 1980s and was allegedly sent to Yemen to train Houthi rebels in June last year. His killing is the fourth prominent Hezbollah leader Israeli forces have targeted in the past few days, after removing important figures including Ibrahim Qubaisi and Fuad Shukr.

Netanyahu Warns Hezbollah
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke from New York before the UN General Assembly, promising continued airstrikes against Hezbollah unless the group ceases rocket attacks along the Israeli border. International diplomatic efforts led by U.S. and European officials proposing a 21-day ceasefire have so far had little effect on bringing down tensions between the two sides as they grapple to create enough leeway to de-escalate the situation.
