Possible "pre-emptive action", Iran warns against Israel

Iran warned on Monday that it may take possible "pre-emptive action" against Israel "in the coming hours" as Israel gets ready to launch a ground assault on the Gaza Strip.

Tehran has constantly issued warnings that a ground invasion of the long-blocked Gaza would be faced with retaliation from other fronts, raising concerns about the possibility of a bigger conflict involving other countries.

"The possibility of pre-emptive action by the resistance axis is expected in the coming hours," Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the foreign minister of Iran, said during a live broadcast to state television referring to his Saturday meeting with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Ebrahim Raisi, Iran's president and top diplomat, had earlier on Monday warned that time was running out to find a political solution and warned against the battle between Israel and Hamas expanding to other fronts.

Amir-Abdollahian stated "the resistance leaders" will not allow Israel "to do whatever it wants in Gaza".

"If we don't defend Gaza today, tomorrow we have to defend against these (phosphorus) bombs in the children's hospital of our own country," he added.

U.S. President Joe Biden departs on a quick trip to Israel and Jordan on Tuesday (Today) to learn more about Israel's war targets in its impending conflict with Hamas militants and to emphasise the importance of providing humanitarian aid to Gaza's civilian citizens.

As Israel prepares a ground offensive to defeat Hamas militants in Gaza who massacred 1,300 people on October 7 during a rampage across southern Israeli communities, Biden is anticipated to spend part of Wednesday in Tel Aviv for meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials.

After that, Biden will take a flight to Amman to hold talks about boosting aid to Gaza.

King Abdullah of Jordan, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt, and Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian President, who has battled Hamas and whose group has limited autonomy in the West Bank under Israeli occupation, will all be waiting for US President in Amman.

The threat of ground invasion 'doesn't scare us': Hamas

Hamas spokesman Abu Obeideh stated on Monday that the possibility of an Israeli ground invasion of the blockaded Gaza Strip "doesn't scare us and we are ready for it."

He added that after a massive attack in southern Israel on October 7, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades have detained 200 people, with an additional 50 or so being held by other "resistance factions" in various locations.

US man fatally stabs a 6yo child & his mother 26 times over Israel-Gaza war

A 71-year-old Illinois man has been accused of committing a hate crime after it was reported that he stabbed a 6-year-old boy to death and also seriously injured his 32-year-old mom because they were both of the Islamic faith.

According to reports, the suspects targeted the victims in response to the continuing clash between Israel and Hamas.

Officers found the woman and kid late on Saturday morning in an unincorporated part of Plainfield Township, which is located about 40 miles southwest of Chicago.

The results of the autopsy showed that the 6-year-old boy had multiple stab wounds when he was declared dead at a hospital. He was stabbed dozens of times. His mother, who had survived the attack, called 911 to report the attack, was stabbed numerous times, and is expected to recover.

More than 10lakh Gazans have been displaced so far, as Israel prepares for ground invasion

The UN reported that more than one million people from the Gaza Strip had been displaced from their homes over the course of the past week as a result of ongoing Israeli bombarding and warnings about a ground assault targeting Hamas commanders.

Last Sunday, a day after waves of fighters breached the well-guarded border of Israel and killed more than 1,400 people—mostly civilians—by shooting, stabbing, and setting them on fire—Israel declared war on the Islamist organisation.

At least 2,670 individuals have died in the Gaza Strip, the majority of whom were regular Palestinians, as a result of seven days of continuous bombing targeted at the Hamas terrorists.

UN reminds Israel of Wartime Human Rights, appeals for peace & release of hostages

Representative Image

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday pleaded with both, for Hamas to release hostages without conditions and for Israel to allow rapidly and unhindered humanitarian aid into the Palestinian Gaza Strip.

Over 2.3 million civilians in the Gaza Strip are currently struggling with increasingly dire challenges related to access to food, water, and safety. This situation is further compounded by concerns about an impending invasion, as Israel has halted the supply of essential resources to the region. This crisis has persisted for over a week since Hamas militants initiated a horrific attack on Israel, resulting in the tragic loss of more than 1,300 lives.

The head of the UN reported on Monday morning that there are supplies of food, water, medicine, and fuel in Egypt, Jordan, the West Bank, and Israel.

“As we are on the verge of the abyss in the Middle East, I have two humanitarian appeals:

To Hamas, the hostages must be immediately released without conditions.

To Israel, rapid & unimpeded access for humanitarian aid must be granted for the sake of the civilians in Gaza.

Each one of these two objectives are valid in themselves. They should not become bargaining chips and they must be implemented because it is the right thing to do,” the UN chief wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

US warns Israel against occupation of Gaza Strip, says it will be a "Mistake"

US President Joe Biden stated that the Gaza-based Hamas organisation must be wiped out, but that there also needs to be a "path to a Palestinian state," and that an Israeli reoccupation of Gaza would be a "big mistake". Israeli forces set up around Gaza's border and conducted drills in preparation for what Israel stated would be a massive effort to destroy the militant group, aided by an increasing number of US warships in the area. Even after a week of fierce airstrikes, militant rocket firing into Israel continued despite the destruction of entire neighbourhoods.

The president made his strongest public appeal to stop Israel from going beyond pressing it not to reoccupy Gaza, in an interview on Sunday.

According to a senior administration official on Sunday, US President Joe Biden is considering travelling to Israel in the next few days, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

President Biden strongly stated, “I think it’d be a big mistake. Look, what happened in Gaza, in my view, is Hamas, and the extreme elements of Hamas don’t represent all the Palestinian people. And I think that it would be a mistake for Israel to occupy Gaza again.” Still, he said, “taking out the extremists ... is a necessary requirement.”
